Angst, Corona, Journalismus, Krieg, Politik: Das sind einige der Themen, mit denen sich Eugen Zentner in seinem neuen Buch auseinandersetzt – in Gedichtform. Warum der Autor gerade diesen Weg gewählt hat, sich mit den schweren politischen Themen auseinanderzusetzen, erzählt er im NachDenkSeiten-Interview. Ein Gespräch über die Ereignisse in der Corona-Zeit, Kriegshysterie und die politische Lyrik. Von Marcus Klöckner.

Marcus Klöckner: Gleich in Ihrem ersten Gedicht geht es um die Zeitenwende. Ich zitiere:

Ein Beben dröhnt vom Meeressand
Ein neuer Geist besteigt die Riffe
Er deutet an mit strenger Hand
Autoritäre Übergriffe
Ein Umbruch, eine wilde Zeit
Verwirrung dringt in jede Pore

Um eine herrschende Agenda
Man unterwirft sich brüderlich
Und drückt die Störer an die Ränder

Sie thematisieren hier ein ganzes Bündel an Problemen, mit denen die Gesellschaft konfrontiert ist. Was würden Sie jemandem antworten, der zu Ihnen sagt, dass Sie zu „schwarz“ sehen und eigentlich doch alles ganz harmlos ist?

Eugen Zentner: Dieses Gedicht thematisiert im Zeitraffer die Corona-Zeit, die für viele Menschen eine Zeitwende darstellte – auch für mich. Für viele aber auch nicht, und die werden in jener Zeit keine Dramatik finden, erst recht nicht nach so viel zeitlichem Abstand. Solche Menschen kenne ich persönlich. Ich würde empfehlen, sich intensiver mit den Ereignissen zwischen 2020 und 2023 zu beschäftigen, möglichst jenseits von offiziellen Erzählungen. Bücher und Erfahrungsberichte gibt es mittlerweile genug. Wer das tut, wird verstehen, dass alles nicht so harmlos war. Das macht auch das Gedicht deutlich, indem es die damaligen Ereignisse sehr realistisch darstellt, in objektiver Weise, so, dass sich darin wie unter einem Brennglas Zivilisationsbrüche zeigen, die vielen leider entgangen sind. Möglicherweise auch deswegen, weil das Abdriften von demokratischen Prinzipien in langsamen Schritten erfolgte. Der Schnelldurchlauf im Gedicht macht die gesellschaftspolitischen Veränderungen umso sichtbarer.

Viele Ihrer Gedichte handeln von der Corona-Zeit und tragen Titel wie „Testpflicht“, „Berufsbezogene Impfpflicht“ oder „Lockdown“. Das hört sich erstmal überhaupt nicht literarisch an. Warum diese Titel, die auch bei den anderen Themen ähnlich sachlich, eher nachrichtlich angelegt sind?

Das ergibt sich ebenfalls aus der Form bzw. aus dem Genre. Zur politischen Lyrik passt weder eine schmachtende, gefühlsbetonte Sprache noch ein abstrakter Titel, der erst einmal nichts über den Inhalt sagt. Im Gegenteil: Ich wollte bereits im Titel klar benennen, warum es in dem jeweiligen Gedicht geht. Wobei es natürlich auch Titel gibt, in denen ich mich zu Wortschöpfungen hingerissen habe. Aber auch sie umreißen ein Thema, ein Ereignis oder ein Zeitphänomen. Der ganze Gedichtband ist eine Sammlung gesellschafts- und manchmal tagespolitischer Gegebenheiten. Diese Art der literarischen Bestandsaufnahme drückt sich formal eben auch in den Titeln aus. Das hat zudem praktische Vorteile für die Leser. Sie können leichter Gedichte zu bestimmten Themen herausgreifen, die sie besonders interessieren – oder bewegen.

Das Schöne an der Lyrik ist ja, dass jeder seinen eigenen Zugang und seine eigenen Interpretationen finden kann. Was ist es, was Sie da für sich lyrisch aus diesem Themenfeld „Corona“ herausziehen können? Können Sie das zusammenfassen?

Das Interessante ist es wohl, dass man als Gedichtproduzent einen Gegenstand von mehreren Seiten betrachten und dadurch noch mehr Facetten entdecken kann, eben weil man mit Reimen, Versmaß und Metaphern arbeiten muss. Diese filigrane Arbeit schärft das Bewusstsein für gewisse Situationen. In dem Gedicht „Coronale Geburt“ zum Beispiel geht es um die Erfahrung vieler Frauen während der Maßnahmenzeit. Ich als Mann ohne Kinder habe sie nicht gemacht und konnte sie auch gar nicht machen. Ich habe darüber nur indirekt erfahren. Als ich diese Situation lyrisch verarbeitete, konnte ich mich in sie besser einfühlen und dadurch auch das ganze Ausmaß der Tragik begreifen. Bei anderen Gedichten wie zum Beispiel „Lockdown“ war es anders. Da schöpfte ich aus eigenen unmittelbaren Erfahrungen und hatte daher auch einen viel expressiveren Zugang zum Gegenstand.

Dann ist da auch noch der Krieg. Im Inhaltsverzeichnis stehen Titel wie „Kriegspropaganda“, „Kriegstüchtig“, „Spannungsfall“, „Sondervermögen“. Was passiert in Deutschland?

Konkret müsste man fragen: Was passiert in der politmedialen Arena? Denn die scheint von der Gesellschaft abgekoppelt zu sein. In den Leitmedien und in den Verlautbarungen politischer Entscheidungsträger herrscht eine ungeheure Kriegshysterie, eine Panik, die völlig übertrieben und nicht zu begreifen ist. Die von Ihnen genannten Gedichte geben diese Stimmung wieder, teilweise in dem gleichen sarkastischen, ja zynischen Duktus jener Meinungsmacher. Diese Stimmung ist in Deutschland stärker ausgeprägt als in anderen europäischen Ländern, das ist zumindest mein Eindruck. Ich war kürzlich in Spanien und hatte nicht das Gefühl, dass man dort immerfort mit Kriegspropaganda beschallt wird.

Ich zitiere aus Ihrem Gedicht „Kriegstüchtig“:

Tüchtig sollen alle sein
Tüchtig in der Kunst des Krieges
Groß sich denken, bloß nicht klein
(…)
Neu zu denken wird verlangt
Menschlichkeit ganz abzuschaffen
Reife, sagt man, wird erlangt
Nicht mit Reden, nur mit Waffen

Mit anderen Worten: Verstand ausschalten und im Sinne des politischen Großvorhabens „Kriegstüchtigkeit“ agieren. Welche Beobachtungen machen Sie in Ihrem Umfeld? Was ist Ihr Eindruck? Verstehen die Leute, was gerade passiert?

Ich bin vielleicht nicht sonderlich repräsentativ. Mein Umfeld besteht größtenteils aus Leuten, die spätestens seit der Corona-Krise kritisch auf Politik, Medien und die sogenannte Zivilgesellschaft schauen. Sie wissen natürlich, was passiert; sie durchschauen die Propaganda und halten die Aufrüstung für hochgefährlich. Viele haben Angst, dass der Ukraine-Konflikt eskaliert und es tatsächlich zu einem dritten Weltkrieg kommt. Nicht wenige engagieren sich genauso wie in der Corona-Zeit, indem sie Demonstrationen, Aufklärungsveranstaltungen oder Diskussionsabende organisieren oder daran teilnehmen. Auch Künstler bemühen sich, mit ihren Arbeiten auf die Gefahren aufmerksam zu machen. Insofern herrscht auch im Bereich der Gegenöffentlichkeit viel Bewegung. Ich hoffe, dass diese Bemühungen einen größeren Krieg verhindern.

Ist Ihr Gedichtband auch für Schüler und Lehrer geeignet?

Ja, natürlich. Die Gedichte sind ja weder radikal noch agitatorisch. Sie beschäftigen sich in kritischer Weise mit dem Zeitgeschehen und betrachten die Dinge aus einer anderen Perspektive als literarische Werke, die normalerweise in der Schule oder in den Medien Erwähnung finden. Zudem können die Gedichte nicht nur im Deutschunterricht behandelt werden, sondern auch im Geschichts- oder Politikunterricht. Sie lassen sich auf den literarischen Gehalt hin analysieren, bilden aber auch eine probate Grundlage für Diskussionen über die Probleme der Gegenwart. Im besten Fall regen sie zum Nach- und Umdenken an. Generell ist zu wünschen, dass Bücher aus dem Bereich der Gegenöffentlichkeit in der Schule häufiger durchgenommen werden. In der Breite sind sie weitaus interessanter als Werke, die etablierte Verlage derzeit herausbringen.

Angst, Corona, Journalismus, Krieg, Politik: Das sind einige der Themen, mit denen Sie sich in Ihrem neuen Buch auseinandersetzen – in Gedichtform! Warum haben Sie den Weg zu diesen schweren, politischen Themen über die Lyrik gewählt?

Als Schriftsteller versuche ich generell, mit verschiedenen Ausdrucksformen zu spielen. Es hat einen gewissen Reiz, einen Inhalt auf je unterschiedliche Weise zu transportieren. In dem Sachbuch „Kunst und Kultur gegen den Strom“ habe ich die Form der journalistischen Prosa gewählt. In „Corona-Schicksale“ habe ich die Zeit der Maßnahmenpolitik in Kurzgeschichten verarbeitet. Die wiederum müssen anders geschrieben werden als ein Roman – mein nächstes Buch. Dieses beschäftigt sich mit der allgemeinen Unzufriedenheit in Deutschland und dem damit verbundenen Wunsch, auszuwandern. Der vorliegende Lyrikband thematisiert hingegen verschiedene Aspekte der Krisenzeit sowie die Veränderungen der letzten Jahre. Die kurze Form macht es möglich, auf viele Missstände und Ereignisse einzugehen, ohne dass es überladen wirkt wie zum Beispiel in einem Roman. Zugleich ergibt sich aus der kurzen Form die Notwendigkeit, den Inhalt prägnant zuzuspitzen und zu pointieren. In der politischen Lyrik ist das sehr effektvoll, insbesondere in der Vermittlung der Botschaft.

Beim Weltwirtschaftsforum (WEF) in Davos wurde eine neue Social-Media-Plattform mit dem Namen “W” vorgestellt. Sie soll “wertebasiert” sein und keine “Fake News” erlauben. Angesichts der Hintergründe des Unternehmens dahinter ist die Zielrichtung klar.

Eigentlich sollten Social-Media-Plattformen dem Austausch von Meinungen, Informationen und Alltäglichem dienen. Wer sich noch an das frühe Facebook von vor zehn, zwölf Jahren erinnert, bevor schrittweise die Daumenschrauben angezogen wurden, weiß das vielleicht noch. Ganz ohne massive Eingriffe durch Zensoren und die Reichweite einschränkenden Algorithmen entschieden die Nutzer darüber, was weiter verbreitet werden sollte und nicht KI-Systeme, “Faktenchecker” und Politiker.

Doch diese Zeiten sind vorbei. Vor allem dank ideologisierter Politiker, die jegliche Abweichung von ihren Narrativen als “Desinformation”, “Fake News” oder gar “Hassrede” bezeichnen. Selbst mit dem Regierungswechsel in Washington und weniger Druck auf die Betreiber der Plattformen von dort änderte sich – zumindest für die Nutzer in Europa – nicht viel. Denn die Brüsseler Eurokraten und viele nationale Regierungen (insbesondere jene in Deutschland) erhöhen den Druck noch weiter.

Doch obwohl linkswoke Plattformen wie Bluesky (als X-Ersatz) kaum Nutzer anziehen, propagieren die globalistischen Eliten auf dem Weltwirtschaftsforum (WEF) in Davos eine neue Social-Media-Plattform. “W” soll sie heißen und bereits im Sommer dieses Jahres an den Start gehen. Der Buchstabe stehe einerseits für “We” (Wir), andererseits als doppeltes “V” auch für “Values” (Werte) und “Verified” (verifiziert). Am Ende also geht es nur darum, dass dort lediglich Inhalte geteilt und verbreitet werden sollen, welche den eigenen Narrativen dienen.

Welche Narrative dies sein sollen, wird alleine schon dadurch deutlich, wer dahinter steckt – nämlich die schwedische Klima-Aktivismus-Plattform “We don’t have time”. Das heißt, man baut eine neue Filterbubble für das linksgrün-woke Milieu auf. Und all das natürlich ganz auf Linie mit den Wünschen der Brüsseler Eurokraten und der Davoser WEF-Gang.

The area where she lived and where her father is from is reportedly controlled by a rival faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, suggesting the kidnapping is possibly linked to cartel rivalry.

In the footage, Molina, who has more than 180,000 Instagram followers, was approached by a white Toyota Corolla and multiple attackers, who reportedly used tire spikes to bring her vehicle to a halt before pulling up alongside her, El Pais reported.

Chaos erupted as she struggled, desperately trying to slam the Toyota’s rear passenger door shut and scramble back into her own car, according to the footage. 

The men appeared to eventually overpower her and force her into the back of the car, while a third man in the driver’s seat sped away.

El País reported that Molina was well-known in Culiacán for her customized lilac Cybertruck, a vehicle that made her instantly recognizable.

Authorities have confirmed Molina’s disappearance and opened a missing persons case to locate the 20-year-old. They are investigating possible links to the ongoing turf war between rival cartels.

According to the Attorney General's Office of the State of Sinaloa, officials have no information regarding her whereabouts and said, "It is considered that her safety may be at risk, as she could be a victim of a crime."

While there were no confirmed criminal links prior to the kidnapping, authorities and media reports suggest the incident may be tied to cartel rivalries.

In 2025, hundreds of women were kidnapped or disappeared in Sinaloa alone, according to official figures. A growing number of influencers have also been threatened or killed for promoting or alluding to specific cartel factions. In May 2025, for instance, influencer Valeria Marquez was murdered during a TikTok livestream.

Das britische Oberhaus hat sich mit deutlicher Mehrheit für ein Social-Media-Verbot für Kinder und Jugendliche unter 16 Jahren ausgesprochen. Die Abstimmung endete mit 261 zu 150 Stimmen zugunsten des Änderungsantrags zum „Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill". Social media companies have removed access to millions of accounts belonging to children in Australia in the first month since the country’s historic ban took effect, requiring platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok to identify and deactivate users under the age 16.

Access was revoked for roughly 4.7 million users, according to Australian officials, who on Friday touted the early success of the law, which was enacted in mid-December amid fears surrounding the impact of online environments on young people.

"Today, we can announce that this is working," Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said during a news conference. "This is a source of Australian pride. This was world-leading legislation, but it is now being followed up around the world."

Under the law, 10 social media giants — Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, Snapchat, Kick, Reddit, Threads, Twitch and YouTube — must locate and deactivate accounts of Australian users under the age of 16. The companies face fines of up to $33 million if they don’t take "reasonable steps" to remove underage users.

According to Australia’s eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant, there are roughly 2.5 million Australians between the ages of 8 and 15, with about 84% of 8- to 12-year-olds having at least one social media account. While the total number of accounts across platforms is unknown, Inman Grant said the number of deactivated or restricted accounts was encouraging.

"We’re preventing predatory social media companies from accessing our children," she said at a news conference.

She added that based on data reviewed by her office, there was an increase in downloads of alternative apps after the ban began, but not a spike in usage.

Social media platforms can verify age by either requesting copies of identification documents, using a third party to apply age estimation technology to an account holder’s face, or making inferences from data already available, such as how long an account has been active.

Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads, said earlier this week that it had removed nearly 550,000 accounts belonging to users it believed were under the age of 16 just one day after the ban began.

While the law was popular among parents and child safety campaigners, online privacy advocates and groups representing teenagers largely came out against it.

Other countries have weighed similar measures in step with Australia, and some American lawmakers have also signaled their interest in pursuing social media restrictions in the U.S.

"I think we ought to look at what Australia’s doing, for example, requiring access to these social media platforms to not be available to anybody under the age of 16," Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said last month.

Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., previously said that "protecting children is an avenue that should be pursued."

"I won’t rule out some sort of limitation in sales or distribution or use of those devices… Parents and grandparents need a helping hand; this is getting out of hand," he said.

The Iranian regime has allegedly broadcast at least 97 "coercive confessions" from detained protesters on state television in just over two weeks, human rights groups say, as residents endure the longest internet blackout on record.

The videos reportedly feature handcuffed detainees with blurred faces showing remorse for their actions since the protests began Dec. 28, according to a rights group tracking the videos.

It said ominous music can be heard, and edited footage shows attacks on security forces, according to reporting by The Associated Press and data from the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).

Other rights groups also claim the confession videos are coerced and obtained under duress, with protesters "dragged before cameras under the threat of torture and execution."

"The regime’s broadcast of so-called confessions by detained protesters is a threadbare and worn tactic," Ali Safavi, a senior official with the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), told Fox News Digital.

"Time and time again, the henchmen drag arrested demonstrators before cameras under the threat of torture and execution, coercing them to recant their beliefs or invent absurd stories."

The broadcasts come amid nationwide protests sparked by public anger over political repression, economic collapse and alleged abuses by security forces.

Demonstrations have spread across major cities despite mass arrests, lethal force and sweeping restrictions on communication.

Safavi said the confessions serve a dual purpose. 

"First, they are meant to justify the mass slaughter of protesters, no fewer than 3,000, which NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi has stated constitute manifest crimes against humanity," he said.

"These forced confessions are designed to demoralize the Iranian people and sow fear and doubt."

But he said any mass executions or staged confessions "won’t achieve that because no amount of televised coercion or repression will break the protesters’ resolve."

U.S.-based HRANA has warned that forced confessions in Iran frequently follow psychological or physical torture and can carry severe consequences, including death sentences.

"These rights violations compound on top of each other and lead to horrific outcomes," Skylar Thompson, HRANA group’s deputy director, told The Associated Press, adding that the scale of broadcasts is unprecedented.

The confession campaign coincides with a sweeping internet shutdown that has effectively cut the public off from independent information.

According to NetBlocks, Iran’s internet blackout has surpassed 144 consecutive hours, making it one of the longest disruptions ever recorded.

"The shutdown is still ongoing, making it one of the longest blackouts on record," Isik Mater, NetBlocks’ director of research, told Fox News Digital.

"State TV continues to operate normally via satellite transmission, which does not depend on the public internet, which means households can still watch Iranian state channels even during a near-total shutdown."

Mater said the blackout magnifies the impact of state propaganda because "while the public is cut off, the state relies on broadcast media and its domestic National Information Network to control what people see," she said, likening Iran’s information strategy to that of North Korea.

"A useful comparison is North Korea where the vast majority of citizens there have little to no access to the global internet, yet the state TV and radio broadcast regime propaganda 24/7," she said.

"Information flows through closed systems, like North Korea’s domestic intranet Kwangmyong and not the open internet."

Mater added that shutdowns are highly selective, with senior officials and state institutions retaining connectivity through "whitelisted networks."

"Senior officials and state institutions retain connectivity via whitelisted government networks and private links," Mater said.

"This is why Ali Khamenei and other government officials continue posting on global social media platforms during the blackout, enabling the regime to shape the narrative internationally while citizens are unable to document events or even respond."

The British government intensified its crackdown on AI-generated sexual abuse Monday after ministers confirmed a possible ban on Elon Musk's social media platform X amid a widening probe and with the company potentially incurring hefty fines.

The dramatic move follows the launch of a formal investigation by Ofcom, the U.K. communications regulator, into whether X breached its legal duties under the U.K.'s Online Safety Act and came after reports that the platform’s built-in AI chatbot, Grok, was used to generate and share sexualized deepfake images of women and children.

Grok was launched in 2023 but its image generator feature, Grok Imagine, was added in 2025 with a specific mode to generate adult content.

Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology Liz Kendall described the recent use of the AI tool being misused to generate sexually explicit and non-consensual images as "deeply disturbing." 

Kendall also warned that social media companies would be held accountable if they failed to act.

"I welcome Ofcom’s urgency in launching a formal investigation today," Kendall said, according to Reuters. "It is vital that Ofcom complete this investigation swiftly because the public – and most importantly the victims – will not accept any delay."

In a separate statement shared later Monday, Kendall said the Grok AI tool had been used to create and circulate degrading, non-consensual intimate images.

"No woman or child should live in fear of having their image sexually manipulated by technology," she said before adding, "The content which has circulated on X is vile. It is not just an affront to decent society, it is illegal."

Kendall added that sharing or threatening to share deepfake intimate images without consent, including images of people in their underwear, constitutes a criminal offense under U.K. law.

She warned that Ofcom has the authority to issue "fines worth millions of dollars" or penalties of up to 10% of a company’s qualifying worldwide revenue.

"But X does not have to wait for the Ofcom investigation to conclude," Kendall said. "They can choose to act sooner to ensure this abhorrent and illegal material cannot be shared on their platform," she warned.

Ofcom had said it "urgently made contact" with X on Jan. 5, demanding explanations about the steps being taken to protect U.K. users and setting a response deadline of Jan. 9.

While xAI, another company founded by Musk, responded, Ofcom said it decided to open a formal investigation after reviewing the available evidence "as a matter of the highest priority."

In a statement shared Monday, Ofcom said, "Reports of Grok being used to create and share illegal non-consensual intimate images and child sexual abuse material on X have been deeply concerning."

"Platforms must protect people in the UK from content that’s illegal in the UK, and we won’t hesitate to investigate where we suspect companies are failing in their duties, especially where there’s a risk of harm to children," the statement said.

OPENAI TIGHTENS AI RULES FOR TEENS BUT CONCERNS REMAIN

As previously reported by Fox News Digital, the chatbot acknowledged in a public post on X that it had generated and shared an AI image depicting two young girls in sexualized attire, calling the incident a "failure in safeguards" and apologizing for the harm caused.

Amid mounting criticism, Grok confirmed it has begun restricting some image-generation and editing features to paying subscribers. The chatbot said the limitations were implemented to prevent further misuse.

Musk also accused the U.K. Government of "fascism" Monday for "arresting thousands of people for social media posts."

The billionaire Tesla founder had responded to a post on X that claimed the country arrests more people for social media posts than "any other country on earth." 

Alongside the Ofcom investigation, the U.K. government announced that legislation criminalizing the creation of non-consensual intimate images generated by AI would come into force this week.

Kendall said responsibility does not rest solely with individuals.

"The platforms that host such material must be held accountable, including X," she said. 

If they do not act, she said she is "prepared to go further."

Meanwhile, U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer's official spokesperson said the government’s presence on the platform was "under review" and that "all options are on the table."

The Associated Press also reported Monday that Malaysia and Indonesia have become the first countries to block Grok.
